Lucy & Yak

I was first introduced to Lucy & Yak by my friend Emma on a trip to Brighton.

The first thing I noticed about their clothes is the colour. They are so bright and cheerful and the prints are quite wacky which I love. As a company they are so much more than that though.

They started their company on the beach in New Zealand and when they moved back to the UK, they started selling clothes out of the back of their van (so many creative companies started this way and I absolutely love it) and then moved on to depop where they modelled the clothes themselves. Stories like this really inspire me. It really does go to show you can do anything if you put your mind to it.

They spent a lot of time finding the right manufacturer and once they did they set about making sure they were treated and paid fairly in good working conditions. One thing I really love about Lucy and Yak is their 'who made your clothes' initiative. A number is stitched into each item that correlates to which tailor made your item and you can find out a bit more about them online which is a really nice personal touch.

There are so many good things about this company that I could sit here and write for hours. They have lots of information about their ethos and values on their website so if you're interested, definitely check it out. (Link below)

The first item I treated myself to was a pair of the Lola dungarees.

They are a limited edition design by Chloe Watts, an illustration student from Manchester. I was immediately drawn to the abstract print and bold colours and knew I had to preorder them. I think it's really cool that they give people the opportunity to get their artwork seen. They run a competition every month to get your prints sent out as postcards with every order. I'm going to collect mine and frame them together when I have a few.

The material is 100% organic cotton twill and they're nice and thick so will be perfect in the winter too.

I love that they come in two leg lengths as I always struggle to find things that fit me well on the leg. They have adjustable straps that you can wear in lots of different ways (they have a video on their blog with all the different ways to tie them)

I went for a size down because I'd heard they come up quite big. I'm happy with the fit of them but I could have easily gone for my normal size too to make them slightly more oversized. (I think I probably will for my next pair)

They look great with plain tee's underneath, but I am a big fan of a pattern clash so I've made them even jazzier with a stripy graphic.

They are definitely my favourite dungarees I've owned and I can't wait to grow my collection. I'm thinking a corduroy pair next that I can wear sweatshirts under.

My second purchase was these AMAZING Addison High Waisted Jeans.

Now I've discovered these I think I need them in every colour and print.

If you're bigger on the bottom and struggle to find jeans that fit your waist aswell as your bum these are perfect.

They are super high waisted, making them really flattering on the waist, but there is plenty of room on the hips making them really comfy. The pockets are also huge which is great. Little pockets that you can barely get your spare change in are so annoying.

The print is so cheerful. My husband has named them my 'Clown Pants' and I think that name is going to stick. They are such a beautiful vibrant colour that there's so many colours you could pair with them.

They again come in different leg lengths, the 30 is perfect for my height (5ft 1 ish) and I can still roll them up.

I have no doubt that I'll be buying more of these very soon!

Until next time,

Just Lucy Jane x
